Past Perfect and Past Perfect continuos
In
English the past perfect and past perfect continuous for me are the
most difficult thing in the past tense, I found they hard because I do not
really know how and when I have to use they also is hard to include those
tenses in a conversation. I am going to show you how I study this and which
materials I used for a better comprehension of this topic.
First
we need to make a line and keep the order always in our mind.
Past perfect -------PPC-------- Simple
past ------- P Prog----
Present
_______l_______________________l_______________________l__
PPC means Past Perfect Continuous had it has
those lines because is an action that started in the past continued up
until another time in the past.
Another thing to keep in mind is the construction of these
past tenses:
Past perfect =
Had
+ past participle
Past Perfect Continuous=
Had
been + present participle
We can see many ways to study this I am giving to you some
examples.
